I live in Jan Juc and am running as an Independent candidate to become the State Member of Parliament for the South Barwon district.
My family are long-time residents of the area, and after my parents enjoyed living far and wide including in France and Margaret River, we returned to our roots in Torquay when I was in my early teens.
I have been fortunate enough to live a very diverse life of travelling, working in a wide range of professions from a bar manager in a French snow resort, English teacher in Japan, a sticker factory in Geelong to working for multinational companies in the mining and offshore industries. The insights and perspectives I gained from exposure to such a broad range of experiences has developed a strong sense of social and environmental values, which led me to undertake a degree in Environmental Science at Deakin University.
I have continued to evolve my passion of ensuring a resilient and sustainable community, volunteering my time with organisations:
• Surf Coast Energy Group (SCEG),
• the Greater Torquay Alliance
• Surfers Appreciating the Natural Environment (SANE)
• Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME)
• Ocean Mind
My involvement with these groups has further developed my huge appreciation of the importance of looking after our community and this beautiful part of the world we live in.
